1. About The Event

Welcome to the world of Pop Up Speed Dating an imaginative new form where like minded people get together and meet up at different surroundings and venues across London. From boutique hotels, art galleries to casinos (and yes, the odd bar!), Pop Up Speed Dating events is great way of meeting new people in a relaxed and friendly environment. 2. How is it different to the usual speed dating?

Expect the unexpected! Yes, there’s speed-dating and all kinds of activities at any of our events but the good thing is that all activities are optional, and you may just want to chill out at the bar and chat to other guests. See indiviual listings for evening’s schedule.

a. “What is Live Matchmaking? How can I participate?”

Fancy a mini-date with a guest we handpick for you? Then listen out for announcements on the evening (or you might just be handed a letter upon registration telling you where and when to meet your mystery date). We cannot guarentee that you will be picked but you can increase your chances by helping us help you by first registering to our Free Matchmaking service and then liking our Pop Up Speed dating Facebook Page so that we can see what you look like. It’s simples!

b. “Can I take part in the mini-speed dating and if so, will I be taking part with my age group? How do I know if I have any matches?”

Our tailored events ensure that all scheduled mini-speeddating sessions and Live Matchmaking are all of similar age groups. You are handed scoresheets at the beginining of the session which you hand back to your host with your three top choices of dates at the end of the session. You both will be contacted within 48 hours (workdays) ONLY if you are a match.

c. “What all this about ‘Win A Blind Date?”

Upon registration, you will be issued with a raffle ticket. At the climax of the evening, we will do a draw and one lucky person will win an imaginative blind date with another guest of their choice.

d. “What if I do not take part in any of the activities?”

That’s the beauty of Pop Up Speed dating. We treat you like adults – do what you want to do!  However, we encourage all guests to be as interactive as possible whether you take part in the evening’s activities or simply chill out at the bar. We do our bit and we expect you to do your bit! Whilst activities are going on that you are not particpating in, we expect you to be talking to other people.

3. What is the format of the evening?

Pre-event drinks reception generally starts at 7.30pm during which guests can mingle and buy drinks if they wish (a complimentary drink for some events will be indicated). The host will then inform guests of the proceedings. See our full list of upcoming events.

4. How long does each event last?

Guests arrive at our events from 7.30pm or 8.oopm (see event details), and mingle at the bar until all guests have arrived. Due to the format of the evening, it is important that all guests have arrived before we start the evening’s activities. The activities generally finishes around 9.30pm when guests are free to continue mingling in the bar for as long as the venue is open. 5. Where are events held?

Our events are held at venues across London.

6. What happens when I arrive?

On arrival, guests sign in with our hosts, who will give you your dating card and/or any other interactive tools (such as Secret Missions) for activities that you wish to participate in. All interactive games are optional you may simply want to mingle in the bar or main area. Guests must arrive on time to take part in the speeddating rounds and matchmaking sessions.

7. What happens next?

Once everyone has arrived, the host will explain the proceedings of the event.

8. How many people do I meet?

Our events usually attract approximately 100-150 guests, (depending on the location and age range).

9. What is the male to female ratio?

Our booking system controls ticket sales to ensure there is a 50/50 split of men to women at all of our dating events. Whilst we do all we can to ensure this, unfortunately we cannot guard against every eventuality that may compromise this ratio.

10. What if I like someone at an event?

All guests who take part in speeddating sessions are given scorecards for the evening, where they jot down the names of people they meet that they would like to keep in touch with, for their own reference. Once the session has finished, guests must write their top three choices at the bottom of the score sheet an hand it back to the host.

11. How will I know if I get any matches?

Your host will contact you within 48 hours after the event and ask you to choose people who you would like to see again. Remember this is the dating game and your hosts will only look to put you in contact with potential romantic matches. Please note that both parties must list each other as matches before contact details are exchanged.

12. Why do I need to book in advance?

Our events require an equal balance of men and women, and we only have a certain number of spaces available for each. Advance bookings ensure we maintain as equal ration as possible.

13. Why are so many events always sold out for women but not men?

Ladies tend to organise their social lives well in advance with the help of their trusty diaries and friends. This isn’t the same for men. Between 30-50% of our male tickets are sold between 2-24 hours before an event. We encourage men to book in advance with our 3 for 2 tickets offer.

If you are a woman, and the event you wish to attend is booked up, please go to the next event and make your booking. In the meantime, simply send an email to: info@popupspeedating.com informing us of your interest for your first choice of event. We will move you from your booked event to your desired event, should a space become available.

14. How do I collect my tickets?

We do not issue tickets for any of our events. We have all the names of our guests on the night, and guests sign in on arrival. If you have purchased tickets for your friend/s you must send us their full name and email upon the purchase of your ticket. This is important so that we are able to contact them should they be a match.

15. What happens if I can’t make an event once I have booked?

Our events are heavily dependent on the male to female ratio being as equal as possible. Therefore, cancellation is usually two days before the event unless specified otherwise for the event you are booking. For major events such as the boat parties in the summer and New Year’s Eve events, cancellation deadline is 7 days prior to the event. A credit will be held over for another event if you cancel by the deadline for the event you have booked. We are, however, happy for a replacement guest to attend in your place should you miss the deadline.

16. What should I wear?

Dress however makes you feel comfortable, but remember first impressions count, so the saying dress to impress generally applies!

17. What type of people attend Pop Up Speeddating events?

People like you! Sociable, attractive, single cool professionals who enjoy meeting new people and having a good night out.

18. Do many people come on their own?

Lots! The aim of the evening is to meet new people, and the format of the evening ensures this, so it doesn’t matter if you come alone or in a group, you will still meet the same number of people.

19. I am outside the specified age group – can I still attend?

Whilst we cannot enforce age checks at our events, we hope that guests respect our age brackets. We cater for people in their 20s, 30s and 40s.

20. There aren’t any events in my area. What can I do?

If you are in an area that we currently do not cover, please email us at info@popupspeeddating.com and register your interest in our events in your area. If there is enough interest, we will definitely put an event on!

21. Can my company partner with your events?

22. Would you consider using my venue for your events?

Yes. We are always in search of venues for our events. We would require a sectioned off area or private room that can comfortably accomodate 100 people minimum. Please contact us at info@popupspeeddating.com to discuss options available.
